Your lash bed decides three things: how comfortable your client is, how well your body holds up after a full day, and how your room reads on Instagram. Get it wrong and you feel it in every appointment.
1. Ergonomics first
The single biggest mistake salon owners make is buying a flat treatment bed and calling it a lash bed. Flat means the client's head sits at the same height as their feet. That forces you to lean over the entire appointment, and after six months your lower back tells you about it.
A proper lash bed has a signature shape, an S-curve or a raised head-end, that lifts the client's head and neck into your working line of sight. You keep your shoulders relaxed and your elbows at 90 degrees. Ten hours a day at that posture is sustainable. Ten hours hunched forward is not.
What to look for: a raised head zone, contoured shoulder support, and a wide enough base that the client doesn't roll if they shift.
2. Materials that survive a full year
You'll wipe this bed down twenty times a day. Cheap PU cracks within twelve months and the foam underneath tells on you fast. Premium leather or high-grade leatherette handles disinfectant, adhesive spills, and thousands of body-oil transfers without splitting.
The frame matters too. Wood frames flex over time. Reinforced steel does not. Steel + high-density foam + real leather is the combination that lasts.
3. Get the dimensions right for YOUR room
Before you buy, tape out the bed's footprint on your salon floor. Then walk around it. Can you get to the trolley? Can you sit on both sides? Is there space for a client to swing their legs off without hitting the wall?
If a bed doesn't come in a custom size, walk away. Every salon layout is different. A brand that offers custom dimensions to fit your space respects that reality.
4. Lead time and payment
Handcrafted, made-to-order beds have a 4 to 6 week lead time. That's fine. It means yours is being built for you, not pulled off a shelf. But it also means you need to plan around it. Deposit-to-lock pricing is standard for premium brands, with a balance due before delivery.
